About

As we are living in 21st century, religious differences are bound to dilute as the world is coming closer. Being a firm believer of democracy, the partition of India that took place in the name of religion irritates me whenever I come across the discussions such as religious fundamentalism, equality as well as Kashmir conflict, etc.
Through the social media as well as into the real world I have had conversations, arguments, dialogues with the people belonging to so many different ethnic, religious and national backgrounds regarding the things such as social inequality, religious discrimination as well as democracy, human rights, etc. People say that 'Jo hua so hua' and 'we should move on'.
But again, whenever I hear such notions statements all that anger against religious fundamentalism comes out and I literally start yelling at the people about how they can easily ignore the biggest injustice done with the native people of the region just because few fundamentalists as well as politicians wanted a country to be carved out so that they will get their piece of cake.
Partition of India is not the partition between two regions sharing same culture but, it is the failure of the idea of secular democracy.
It is not just the people who got divided, but it offered a base for fundamentalists to grow, become strong and propagate their fundamentalism which is harmful for the entire humanity. Partition is a win to the Fundamentalists irrespective of their religious backgrounds. No wonder we see the fundamentalists chasing the mirage of 'Akhand Bharat(From Afghanistan to Cambodia.. lol)' and 'Gazwa E Hind(a claimed Holy war without a prophet, again, LoL).
Partition is the failure for those who believeed in the secular democracy. It is the failure for those who believed in equality. Gandhi, Bacha Khan, Netaji Bose, Maulana Azad, etc never imagined of such partition that can ideologically divide one country into two. We can hear the voice of Moulana Azad warning us about the consequences.
Being Agnostic, a pro equality human being, I cannot accept such ideological boundaries. Whenever I talk to the people, i find more secular as well as open minded people in the region what we call Pakistan. there are so many people in Pakistan who strongly believe in the democracy. But again, due to the identity crisis, whenever I ask them 'if you stand for Secular Democracy then what about the partition' and again I get the same answer.. 'jo hua so hua, move on'.
But you see, till time we are going to justify such ideological partition, we can't really take any strong stand against religious fundamentalism whether it is Islamist fundamentalism or Hindutwa or any other fundamentalism. Partition is the reason why fundamentalists got so strong in todays Pakistan, Union of India as well as Bangladesh.
Partition was a win for those fundamentalists. Whereas, reunification will be the win for those who stand for Secular Democracy.  If there was no partition there would have been no issues such as Indus/Tista water distribution, Sar creek, siachen, Kashmir. There would have been no issue of illegal migration. Things would have been really difficult if India (Including Pakistan, Bangladesh) was united under a strong democratic secular constitution. There would have been no partition of Punjab, Bengal in the name of religion.
World is fighting the war on terror. Root cause of terrorism is fundamentalism. If we want to eradicate the terrorism, we have to bring those people closer who believe into the equality, the democracy as well as the secularism.
Remember, United We Stand, Divided We Fall.
Choro Kal ki Baatein
Kal ki Baatein Purani
Naye Daur Mein Likhengei
Mil kar Nayi Kahani,
Hum Hindustani..!
